Get Yapping...

Yapps are short updates, they can be up to 140 characters in length and you can use them to say what you're doing, what you're thinking, or just generally to chat. When you login to your account you'll see a list of your friends recent yapps and likewise they will see you included on their homepage when they login.

Yapps are viewable by all logged in yappey users by default but you can change this, if you like. Why not make them public and let the whole internet know? Or you could limit them to just your friends. You can change the privacy level for your yapps by clicking here.

Get Blogging...

Blogging is a great way to share things you like, whether with the whole internet or just with your friends. You can write as much as you like whenever you like. Whether it's what you've done today or cooking tips, music reviews or talking about the weather, your blog is your place to write. You can create a new blog by clicking here and at any time by going to 'Add a blog post' in the Create menu at the top.

Like all elements of the site, by default blogs are viewable by all Yappey members. Many people like to share their blog with a wider audience and this is easy - you can just click here and set your blog access to 'public' or you can change it for individual posts.

Add Photos or Videos...

Yapping and Blogging are great fun but we live in a multimedia world, why not try out the photo and video sharing features of the site? You can create photo albums and share pictures of your holiday, your pets, yourself, etc. Or you can add videos from youTube, vimeo and many other video sharing websites.

Invite Your Friends...

We want to make it easier for you to stay connected with your friends. The site is more fun for you if you can share things with all of your friends so why not invite some via email or import your address book and invite them automatically from there.

Add a Profile Picture...

Having a profile picture will let people quickly and easily identify you when you post things on the site. It's nice to put a name to a face but if you'd prefer not to use a photo you can always use an avatar, a cartoon, or any other image.

Edit Your Profile...

Your profile lets people know a bit more about you. You can say as little or as much as you like about yourself and you can choose who views what information. (By default all Yappey users can see your profile but you can easily change this using the access dropdowns next to each profile field.)

Your Home Page...

When you login the main area of your home page shows a list of the latest yapps from your friends on the site, you can post a new yapp or reply to an existing one using the box at the top. On the right hand side you'll find a list of the most recent blog entries from your friends and below that a list of recent videos and groups from right across the site. If you want a more comprehensive view of what's going on, just click on 'activity' in the menu at the top and you can get a list of what's happening.
